Guest Access Rules and FAQ's

Rules for Guests/Visitors (updated 4/4/2022)

Every guest/visitor to a CUNY campus, whether accessing indoor or outdoor spaces, must provide proof to CUNY that they (i) are fully vaccinated or (ii) have had a negative COVID-19 molecular (PCR) test performed by an accredited lab no more than 7 days prior to the visit. “Fully vaccinated” means:

• Two weeks after a second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines; or
• Two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine; or
• Having had the full dosage of either vaccine, plus a booster shot

Visitors are also required to comply with all other University policies and codes of conduct, as well as government and/or campus-specific rules and protocols, applicable to individuals on campus that are intended to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, including by way of example:
• any masking and social distancing requirements (for those unvaccinated); and
• complying with any applicable federal, state or local quarantine rules.

Before coming to a CUNY campus, visitors are encouraged to consult the campus’ website to review the most current access rules and protocols. You can find links to each campus reopening plans here: https://www.cuny.edu/coronavirus/fall2021-reopeningplans/.  You can visit CCNY's return to campus page here:  https://www.ccny.cuny.edu/return-campus.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

Do guests need masks?
As of March 7, 2022, CUNY has dropped the mask mandate for those who are FULLY vaccinated.  Please refer to the definitions of "fully vaccinated" above.  For those who are NOT fully vaccinated, masks must be worn in all areas of campus and on our grounds; except in the case of briefly eating or drinking.  In this instance, masks can be removed periodically, but social distancing should remain.

What COVID tests are acceptable for approval?
CUNY accepts only PCR tests – also known as molecular tests and nucleic acid amplification tests (NAAT). CUNY does NOT accept any other kind of test, including antigen and antibody.

Does a user(Guest) who needs to visit multiple CUNY locations have to be approved by each location?
A user (Guest) only needs to be approved in Cleared4 to be able to access any CUNY location.

Does a user (Guest) need to request access each time that they want to enter the campus (for example, over multiple days)?
All user (GUEST) access passes are required to have the current date displayed at the time of entry.  A user (GUEST) may need to refresh the page displaying the link or QR code in order for the current date  to be displayed, and to move past CUNY security/public safety.

How do users (Guest)  get notified when they are approved?
They will receive an email and SMS to the email address and mobile number they provided at registration.

How can users (Guest) access their profile to upload new documentation or change settings?
The only way users (Guest) can access their profile is via their own unique link (known as a deep link), which is included in their registration email.

How can users (Guest) register for access to campus?
A user (Guest) should self-register by visiting:  https://www.c4wrk.com/ytST2qjjBM6DGMWKA
