Application Requirements

The BIC Master's program offers three specialized tracks: Account Management, Creative, and Public Relations.

BIC welcomes applicants with undergraduate academic backgrounds from all fields, not just from closely related fields of advertising, marketing, public relations, etc. All prospective students are expected to have a lively interest in pursuing a career in branding and marketing communications, possess solid writing skills, and have a competitive academic track record and/or a strong record of success in the workplace.

Applications should be submitted online.

GRE test scores are not required. International students must submit English translations of transcripts and a standard TOEFL score of 90 or higher.

Because of the collaborative nature of the BIC program, applicants are strongly encouraged to expect to enroll as full-time students, which usually means a course load of nine credits (three courses) each fall and spring semester. All classes are scheduled either for late afternoons or evenings and meet on a once-weekly basis. Summer courses will be offered. In a typical sequence, students will complete 36 credits and graduate with the Master's degree in two years. A few exceptions will be made for part-time students; inquire with Professor Nancy Tag, BIC Program Director.

The deadline to apply for Fall admission is around April 1st. Exact dates are determined each year. Decisions are usually made by mid-May. Please notify us at bic@ccny.cuny.edu if you need your application reviewed earlier for any reason.

Note: application evaluations are a two-step process. First, your application materials are gathered by the Graduate Admissions department. Therefore, all questions regarding the online submission process and receipt of forms should be addressed to the Graduate Admissions department. Once application files are complete, or near complete but pending documents such as unpublished transcripts awaiting final grades, only then are they reviewed by the BIC admissions committee.
