Overview

One vision. Three tracks. Many perspectives. Uniquely BIC.

The BIC Master of Professional Studies (MPS) combines theory and practice in an interdisciplinary, multi-tracked curriculum that addresses the expanding opportunities and needs of marketing communications industries on behalf of both private and not-for-profit organizations. It is a 36-credit, two-year program that is portfolio-based.All courses, held in the late afternoons and evenings, are taught by professors and active professionals with high-level industry experience.
 
 
Because of the growing importance of presentation and visualization in the communications field, all students will be required to defend a Senior Thesis in the form of a printed and electronic portfolio, which must be presented to a faculty committee and council of industry professionals after completing their Convergence Workshop Practicum.

Account Management & Planning:

Based on undergraduate focus and work experience, BIC grads who specialize in this track may get jobs as:
Advertising Account Executives, Brand Managers, Media Specialists, Brand Strategists/Planners, Digital Analysts, Social Media Experts, Project Managers, ETC.

 

Creative:

conceptual thinking | multi-platform & experiential execution | dynamic portfolio development
Based on undergraduate focus and work experience, BIC grads who specialize in this track may get jobs as:
Advertising Creative Directors, Copywriters, Art Directors, ETC.
 
 

Public Relations:

organizational branding and reputation | multimedia content creation | models of influence | program management
Based on undergraduate focus and work experience, BIC grads who specialize in this track may get jobs as:
Public Relations Specialists in "expanding frontier" and "fame sensitive" sectors (science, technology, fashion, entertainment, media), Investor Relations Professionals, Social Media Experts, ETC.

New York city is the media communications capital of the world. There is nothing like studying a discipline at its professional nexus. Plus, local professionals can earn their Master's of Professional Studies at BIC while working full-time.

EXPERTISE

In the past five years, the undergraduate Ad/PR Program in the Media and Communication Arts Program at City College of New York has maintained 250 active majors with over 90% retention rate. Our students are already earning internships and entry level jobs at agencies such as Y&R, BBDO, GroupM, Edelman, Rubenstein Associates, Hunter PR, and Tribal DDB. City College of New York students won The ONE SHOW 2007 College Competition Client Pitch and have since had three Merit Winners.
 

HERITAGE

Considered the flagship school of the city University of New York system, the City College of New York has been called "the Harvard of the Proletariat" for providing access to academic excellence. It has more Nobel Prize wining alumni than any other public university. Famous alums include: Jonas Salk, Linda Kaplan Thaler, Mayor Ed Koch, Andrew Grove, and Colin Powell (to name just a few). Others who've attended CCNY include Russell Simmons, Woody Allen, Ira Gershwin, and Henry Kissinger.
