Emily Lopez (she/her) is a first-generation college student majoring in psychology at CCNY with a passion for understanding mental health. She has presented research at the Eastern Psychological Association Conference and mentored undergraduate students as a teaching assistant. She has also gained hands-on experience studying attention and perception using electroencephalography (EEG). As a City College Fellow, Emily will explore how early adversity shapes vulnerability to disinhibitory psychopathology and substance use disorders during emerging adulthood. She is also interested in understanding how stigma influences help-seeking behaviors and access to treatment. After graduating, Emily plans to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology, where she will use her research to help create more effective mental health policies and interventions that improve care for underserved communities.
