Jaelynn Smyth is pursuing her BA/MA in History with a concentration in United States history at The City College of New York. After witnessing compounding governmental abuses and failures to sustain appropriate oversight within state and federal agencies, she is fueled by her passion to combat these injustices, to finding solutions through academia and scholarship. Her research project focuses on U.S. governmental and agency oversight, particularly highlighting the importance of agency watchdogs, who play a significant role in protecting citizens' rights from governmental abuses. She is currently focusing specifically on the secretive CIA umbrella project: MKULTRA and the role of the Inspector General within the termination of the program in 1964. After completing her degrees at CCNY, she is deeply committed to pursuing a PhD with the goal of eventually becoming a professor to teach future historians and researchers.
