Mellon Mays Fellow
Kiran Baldeo is currently pursuing a B.A./M.A. in History. Her research interests center on Guyanese immigration and identity. Specifically, she seeks to understand how members of the Guyanese-American community construct their identity around their double immigration: first emigrating from India to Guyana, then from Guyana to America. She hopes to not only learn about the Guyanese past, but also to utilize her interest in Anthropology to learn about the current Guyanese experience in America through ethnographic research methods. Kiran aspires to earn a PhD in History and eventually have a career in academia.
