Born in Korçe, Albania, Lediona immigrated to the United States with her family at age two. Pursuing a dual degree in history and political science, she discovered a strong interest in Cold War politics, ethnic cleansing, forced population transfers, and genocide. Her research focuses on understanding the interaction between refugees and states in the Balkans and Eastern Europe during the Post-WW II period and throughout the post-Cold War period. She is also interested in dissecting the formation of identity within refugee communities and the influence of state promoted national identity. In particular, Lediona is interested in the ethnic Albanian expulsion from Greece in 1946 and the response of Enver Hoxha's regime to the influx of ethnic Albanian refugees into Albania. Inspired by revisionist and social historians, Lediona hopes to earn a PhD in history and to write scholarship that recovers the history of those who have been denied their history.
