Yessica Gomez was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic but at the tender age of 3-months was brought to New York. Being raised in Harlem, she was struck with a constant reminder that New York City contained a wide range of diverse peoples from different backgrounds, who like her, immigrated to this country. The history of American migration, racism, class conflict, civil war, and colonization became a passion that drove her to the Political Science and History department at CCNY. Here she studies the diverse history of Europe and America and the international and domestic politics of the United States.
