On Monday, December 2, photos of more than 100 City College students who participated in the Project Speak Up Speak Out photo campaign will be displayed on a banner to be hung in the rotunda of the North Academic Center.
The hanging of the banner, which will be unveiled at 12:30 p.m. that day, culminates a campaign begun during Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October to increase awareness of domestic violence issues.
Project Speak Up Speak Out created the banner to illustrate the power of community solidarity in working to end domestic violence, explained Gargi Padki, the campaign organizer. We want to empower students at City College to bring about the change we wish to see in our community.”
The campaign was established through the Colin L. Powell Center for Leadership and Service Community Engagement Fellowship program in partnership with CONNECT NYC, a community center in Harlem that works to build safe families and peaceful communities.
