Suzanne Pittson’s Recording Pays Tribute to ‘Mentor’ Freddie Hubbard With Lyrics Written to his Music Suzanne Pittson, assistant professor of jazz vocal studies at The City College of New York, is a longtime fan of Freddie Hubbard, the late jazz trumpeter. She considers him a mentor, even though she did not meet him until a few months before his death in 2008.
