More About Me

Bryan Stanton (they/them) is the Performing Arts Technical Manager for Aaron Davis Hall and an Assistant Professor of Theatre Production and Design at The City College of New York. They bring over a decade of experience in technical direction, production management, and design across educational, nonprofit, and commercial settings.

At CCNY, Bryan oversees technical operations and safety across a wide range of events at Aaron Davis Hall while also teaching courses in stagecraft, production management, and inclusive theatre design. Their pedagogy is grounded in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Culturally Responsive Pedagogy (CRP), with a particular focus on accessibility, student choice, and equitable representation in technical theatre training.

Bryan is the author of Crafting Theatrical Magic: Building Worlds Through Theatre Design and Production, an open educational resource (OER) textbook that equips students with practical tools and inclusive frameworks for theatre production. Their research explores the intersections of queer identity, educational equity, and technical theatre, and they regularly present at national conferences on these topics.

In addition to their work at CCNY, Bryan is the founder and host of Teaching While Queer, a podcast and nonprofit organization that amplifies the voices of LGBTQ+ educators and advocates for inclusive education. They were named Teacher of the Year in 2022 by Alamo Heights ISD and continue to advocate for the visibility, safety, and leadership of queer educators in schools, colleges, and cultural institutions.
