The Denyce Graves Foundation (DGF), in collaboration with the Metropolitan Opera, proudly presents Shared Voices: Behind the Curtain and Sounds of Hope, an extraordinary two-day series of events celebrating emerging vocal artists and the transformative power of access, excellence, and representation in classical music.
This unprecedented collaboration brings together students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities and leading conservatories from across the United States for a weekend of exposure, professional training, and artistic inspiration. The experience offers rare behind-the-scenes access at the Metropolitan Opera and culminates in a public concert that invites audiences and supporters to invest in the future of the vocal arts.
The Sounds of Hope Concert, a powerful evening of music performed by the Shared Voices Cohort at Aaron Davis Hall.
This inspiring program highlights works by legendary Black composers, presented alongside beloved selections from the classical canon, creating a rich musical dialogue between history, legacy, and the future. The concert amplifies voices that have long been underrepresented while showcasing the artistry and promise of today’s emerging singers.
Join us for this wonderful celebration on March 6th at 7:00 pm at the historic Aaron Davis Hall located at 129 Convent Avenue at West 135 Street.
The event is generously co-hosted by The New Heritage Theatre Group and the Leonard Davis Center for the Performing Arts at The City College of New York, and invites audiences, donors, and community members to witness the impact of meaningful investment in young artists.
