DESCRIPTION
Introduction to computer science and the role it plays in modern computer-based information systems. The course will survey variety of topics in computer field. It will introduce the students to programming concepts and will give them hands on experience using Python. Topics to be covered include: (1) data Storage and manipulation, (2) operating systems, (3) networking and Internet, (4) algorithms, (5) programming languages, (6) security, (7) database systems, (8) programming with Python.
Free elective for CSc majors if taken before CSc 10300. 4 hr./wk.; 3 cr.
