Adem Idrizi is a first-generation student pursuing his major in biology and a minor in chemistry. To expose himself to the life of a biomedical researcher, he has begun working in the Mano Lab, researching neurodegeneration in stroke and potential collaborators influencing neuronal necrosis. Upon completion of his bachelors at City College of New York, Adem wants to pursue a PhD in developmental neurobiology, with a strong interest in the effect of genetic variation on disease susceptibility during neurodevelopment. Adem is also highly interested in the effect of different genetic makeups on drug response, a hot topic known as pharmacogenomics. Adem's interest in developmental neurobiology sparked after he began teaching children with mental disabilities how to swim. He feels it is his goal to understand and treat diseases that can arise during neurodevelopment and allow people to live without having to face the consequences of various illnesses. |
