Anika immigrated to the US from Bangladesh at the age of eight. Although as a child she loved both art and science, she found herself enamored with biology in her 9th grade living environment class. After earning a Bachelor of Science in biology, Anika plans to pursue a PhD in neuroscience. In the future, she hopes to study mental disorders from a molecular perspective. Currently, Anika conducts research at Dr. Christine Li's neurobiology and genetics lab where she is involved in studying the amyloid precursor protein whose cleavage product forms plaques found in the brains of people with Alzheimer's Disease. When not busy "science-ing", Anika likes to read, write and draw.
