Chayanne Marcano is a CUNY Baccalaureate student with an area of concentration in urban anthropology. Her research interests explore themes of race, belonging, culture and capital, and neoliberal urban development as ways to investigate transformations of urban space.

Her previous work, which began as part of the MMUF Summer Research Training Program at the University of Chicago, focused on the ambivalent relationship between mission-specific museums and the gentrifying neighborhoods in which they are located.

Currently, Chayanne is developing a paper on the discourses of neoliberalism in urban revitalization initiatives in Santurce, Puerto Rico that she intends to use as a writing sample for graduate applications.
