Rene Cordero was born in the Dominican Republic and immigrated to New York at a very early age. After graduating high school, Rene enrolled in John Jay College of Criminal Justice where he took an interest in political science which eventually led him to the discipline of history. Rene's passion for the study of history led him to transfer to the City College of New York in search for a better education in the field of history. Rene has taken a special interest in Latin America's experience throughout the Cold War and Latin America's contemporary political situation. However, specifically he has taken an interest in the Dominican Republic's experience throughout the Cold War and the United States relationship with the Dominican Republic throughout the 20th century. Rene receives the Peter Vallone grant each semester for his outstanding performance in his high school years.
