Kendrick Zapata was born in the Bronx, N.Y, and is pursuing a B.A./M.A. in History. His primary research interest is masculinity and how mass consumer culture disseminated a hegemonic ideal of manhood throughout 20th century American history. As Kendrick further develops his research interests, he aspires to obtain a Ph.D. in American Studies. While pursuing his Ph.D., he hopes to explore how masculinity in the 21st century is being transformed by feminism, and how toxic notions of manhood perpetuated by men contribute to male gun violence, suicide, and depression. |
