BETSY MARMOL
HISTORY MAJOR
MELLON MAYS FELLOW
Betsy Marmol, a native New Yorker, is a History major in the BA/MA program. She transferred to CCNY after graduating with honors from Bronx Community College, where she developed a passion for history. Her experience tutoring fellow students inspired her to pursue a career in academia. Betsy's primary field of interest is the Cold War and the intersection of U.S. foreign policy and culture during that era. Currently, Betsy is researching the co-optation of human rights discourse by the Reagan administration, focusing on US foreign policy toward Central America. Betsy aims to earn a PhD in History and to expand her research on human rights during the Cold War.
