CCNY participates in Harlem Week 2026 during the Percy Sutton Harlem 5K on Aug. 8, the NYC Jobs & Careers Fair on Aug. 12 and more.
The City College of New York is partaking in the New York Road Runners’ Percy Sutton Harlem 5K on Sat., Aug. 8 as part of the 52nd Annual Harlem Week. A group of about 40 participants, making up Team CCNY, will run and walk through the City College campus along Convent Avenue from 140th to 135th Streets.
Harlem Week takes place from Aug. 1-16 with live and virtual events celebrating the arts, culture, and rich history of Harlem, which all center around this year’s theme: “Honoring Our Legacy.” CCNY continues to celebrate with a plethora of events.
A virtual showing of the Harlem Week Hack-a-thon—that took place on July 29 at the College’s NAC Ballroom—will be streamed on Aug. 10 at 12 p.m. Twelve- to 21-year-olds participated and solved the challenge: How can young people use knowledge, technology, and teamwork to improve their schools, careers, and communities?
In collaboration with the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce, the NYC Jobs & Careers Fair returns on Wed., Aug. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at CCNY’s Great Hall in Shepard Hall. The event will feature career development workshops and include more than 40 employers across various industries. Register here.
CCNY’s community radio station, WHCR-90.3FM, The Voice of Harlem, is tabling at several Harlem Week events. Below is a list:
- Senior Citizen’s Day on Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building;
- NYRR’s Percy Sutton Harlem 5K on Aug. 8 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on CCNY’s campus where WHCR student DJs will perform; and
- East River Plaza Harlem Week Family Market & Drive-In Cinema on Aug. 9 from 12-4 p.m. with music from WHCR.
