recommends CCNY's City Film program.
City Film, The City College of New York’s MFA in Film program has been recognized by The Hollywood Reporter for its affordability, syllabus and access to filmmakers. Called an “Under-the-Radar Program,” the industry magazine tapped it along with seven other schools based in Los Angeles and New York City that are solid resources for aspiring filmmakers.
The two-year MFA program at CCNY has award-winning faculty and represents an international community. It was praised for its focus on both fiction and nonfiction filmmaking.
“The Harlem-based school’s affordable MFA program (tuition is $305 per credit for residents and $602 for nonresidents) covers both fiction and nonfiction filmmaking, for which the free biweekly Documentary Forum brings in film screenings and panel discussions that augment coursework,” according to The Hollywood Reporter, which appeared in print in the issue dated July 24.
The Cityvisions Annual Showcase takes place in spring and screens short student films and is free and open to the public.
In addition to CCNY, The Hollywood Reporter cited Pace University, SUNY Stonybrook, and SUNY Purchase as "Under-the-Radar" schools, too.
