CCNY awards 10 President’s Community Scholarships

Ten high-achieving students from the Bronx and Washington Heights are recipients of City College of New York President’s Community scholarships, which provide free tuition for undergraduate study. The seventh cohort is part of a vibrant bunch of students that since 2010 are chosen on academic merit. The Americas Poetry Festival welcomes international poets

The third annual international and multicultural Americas Poetry Festival of New York (TAPFNY) welcomes 60 poets from 22 countries to share their works in 10 different languages. $4.27m grant boosts expert John Martin’s spinal cord injury research

For people with cervical spinal cord injuries, regaining hand function is the highest priority. Currently there are no effective treatments for people living with paralysis or profound weakness after SCI. A new $4.27 million grant to John Martin, medical professor at the CUNY School of Medicine at The City College of New York, from the New York State Department of Health is aimed at boosting research. Thanks to a $1 million gift from attorney and distinguished alumnus Stuart Z. Katz, The City College of New York is establishing a new endowed professorship in the Division of Humanities and the Arts. City College of New York M.F.A. in film graduate, Yvonne Ng, is the winner of this year’s Student Academy Awards ® competition for her short film, “Cloud Kumo.” Ng won the silver medal in the Alternative Category at the 2016 awards ceremony at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, Calif. CCNY students immerse in new arts internship program

Six City College of New York students intern at some of New York City’s finest arts and cultural institutions for 24 weeks throughout the academic year as part of CUNY Cultural Service Corps, a new paid internship program.
