Welcoming the Human Resources Administration to our training facility

On Thursday, January 5, 2023, a team from the Human Resources Administration (HRA) visited the Rangel Initiative at CCNY. The team consisted of HRA Administrator Lisa C. Fitzpatrick; Mike Bosket, Executive Deputy Commissioner, Employment and Support Services Administration; Ryan Murray, First Deputy Commissioner.

Our Executive Director (Interim), Angelo Lampousis, welcomed the HRA team in Shepard Hall and introduced training equipment demonstrations by Matthew Decker of Triumvirate Environmental, and Andrew Burgie of New York University’s School of Global Public Health. Dr. Lampousis discussed current activities of the Rangel Initiative on campus and acknowledged the importance of HRA’s support services in enabling program participants to complete essential training leading to employment.

Dr. Malcolm A. Punter, President & CEO of the Harlem Congregations for Community Improvement, Inc. (HCCI) described the partnership with CCNY and President Vincent Boudreau. Dr. Punter cited the Memorandum of Understanding that was recently signed between CCNY’s Rangel Initiative and HCCI. Mr. Nuri Ansari of HCCI and J. Donald Lawrence of HCCI were also in attendance.

Rev. Alex Martinez, Director of Programs, Living Redemption Community Development Corporation (LRCDC) discussed recruitment efforts in conjunction with CCNY and the importance of community-University partnerships. Mr. Dorin Hammond of LRCDC was also in attendance.

CCNY’s Executive Director of Public Safety and Security, Mr Pasquale Morena, along with Director of Investigations Lt. Anthony Laperuta, discussed the specifics of the security guard training as a steppingstone for permanent employment within the City University of New York, as well as in other city agencies and the private sector.

Students currently in training at the Rangel Infrastructure Workforce Initiative were also in attendance.
