SAC Adjunct faculty member Ben Lehouillier provided all the audio postproduction work (Dialog Editor, Sound Designer, and Audio Mixer) for the short film “Devil is Busy”.  HBO Documentary Films released “Devil is Busy”  for streaming on September 23, 2025.  It has recently been nominated for Best Documentary Short Film at this year’s Academy Awards. I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing Ben the best of luck at Sunday’s awards.   Please see the linked article about Ben’s work in the film.


SAC alum Eli Akselrod ( 2024 ) is on the Sound Design team for the HBO Max show 100 Foot Wave that was nominated for a 2025 Emmy in the Outstanding Sound Editing For a Nonfiction or Reality Program category. While the Sound Design team didn’t win this category, 100 Foot Wave won the 2025 Emmy for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series. Congratulations Eli for your nomination and for the win for the show.


  2014 alumni Ben Krause was part of the audio team for the documentary film Seeds that won the Grand Jury Prize for documentary at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.  Directed by Brittany Shyne,Seeds is an intimate examination of the lives of Black generational farmers, unveiling the challenges of maintaining legacy and the value of land ownership.  Ben was the sound effects editor and one of the sound designers, along with Daniel Timmons.  Ben is on the far right of the picture next to Daniel Timmons.  Brittany Shyne is second from the… Read More »


2016 Alumni Cherrelle Crews was part of the recording team for Cory Henry’s album Church that just won the 2025 Grammy Award for Best Roots Gospel Album.  Additionally, Cherrelle worked on the 2017 and 2024 Grammy nominees for the Best Gospel Performance/Song.  All of us at the Center are extremely proud of Cherrelle and her recent accomplishments. RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) Gold & Platinum certifications have represented the pinnacle of success in the music industry since 1958. Gold certification represents 500,000 units sold and Platinum represents 1,000,000 units sold. SAC Alum Andy Mineo now has two Platinum Single certifications for Coming in Hot and You Can’t Stop Me!  Congratulations Andy on this major milestone in your music career!


SAC alum Sanghee Moon (2019) was the mixing technician for Tom Fleischman, the Re-recording sound mixer for the recent academy award nominee, Killers of the Flower Moon by Martin Scorsese. Sanghee worked on the film mix with Tom for a year and a half at Soundtrack New York. Sanghee has been a busy sound designer, re-recording mixer, and sound editor for film and streaming venues since he graduated five years ago. His work has been featured on National Geographic, ABC, Apple TV, Netflix, Prime, Hulu, AMC and HBO MAX. Congratulations Sanghee!

SAC Alum Zach Egan (2018) recently edited and mixed the audio for the documentary film Then Comes the Body.  The film follows Daniel Ajala, a self-taught Nigerian ballet dancer who rose to fame after a video of his student dancing in the rain (Anthony Mmesoma Madu)  went viral.  The film will premier at the Tribeca Film festival this June 10, 12, and 17.  Congratulations Zach!

Grammy Award winner Macklemore’s latest single “Next Year”, released on Friday October 29, features the singing of SAC alum Jordan Topf (aka Windser). The video for the single (below) features Macklemore as well as Jordan who is enjoying a soak in the Hot Tub boat! As of this posting “Next Year” is No.18 on the iTunes Top 40 Hip-Hop Tracks. Since graduation Jordan has been a busy singer/songwriter/performer with his band Mainlandand recent solo projects including the release of “July” last year. Congratulation Jordan!!!!
