New York Group Theory Cooperative

The New York Group Theory Cooperative was founded many years ago. It grew out of the New York Group theory Seminar and the very generous support from the National Science Foundation in the development of an innovative graphically driven group-theoretical software package Magnus. This was named after one of the founders of group theory, Wilhelm Magnus.

The New York Group Theory Cooperative is host to the New York Group Theory Seminar.  The seminar meets Friday afternoons at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.  The current organizers are Sean Cleary, Vladimir Shpilrain and Gretchen Ostheimer with assistance from Gilbert Baumslag. See our events page for upcoming seminar talks.
