Corporeal is an experimental showcase of contemporary classical music accompanied by contemporary dance. This show brings electrifying and diverse classical music programming to Harlem, while emphasizing how sound and movement can inform and inspire one another.
This project is made possible in part with funds from Creative Engagement & UMEZ Arts Engagement, regrant programs supported by The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) in partnership with the City Council, The New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, the Howard Gilman Foundation, and the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone Development Corporation (UMEZ), and administered by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
Featuring: Musicians Graeme Steele Johnson, Giancarlo Latta, Aaron Wolff, and Fifi Zhang perform a variety of solo and chamber music written by living composers alongside dancers Marisa Clementi, ALEXA GRÆ, and Leah Wilks.
The centerpiece of the program is the world premiere of a commissioned work by composer Yaz Lancaster.
