Information for Faculty and Marshals

Note: Commencement will take place outdoors and on a grass surface: flat shoes are advised for comfort and mobility.

Honor students will be acknowledged at the individual school and divisions' ceremonies.

FACULTY MARCHING WITH DEPARTMENTS

The President and Provost request that each academic department be represented at graduation exercises by half of its full-time faculty.  It is important to ensure faculty attendance at this most important occasion for our students.  Academic regalia must be worn in the ceremony.

Each chair is requested to send the names of those in their department who will march. Those names will be compiled in an excel file to include First Name, Last Name, Department, E-mail address and phone extension.  Please send this to Dominic Stellini at mhamilton@ccny.cuny.edu  and Lydia Travis @ltravis@ccny.cuny.edu

MARSHALS

We also need volunteers from the faculty and staff to commit to being marshals. This is a very important job, and it is crucial for the smooth functioning of commencement activities.

Marshals’ gowns will be supplied by the College to those who need them.

Faculty who participate in commencement are required to pay for their own caps and gowns. However, the College will supply gowns for those who volunteer their services as marshals. Those wishing to wear individual hoods must order them for themselves.
