Pavel Javornik is pursuing his major in Pure Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science. Much of his interests are in the applications of computational methods in mathematics, and how they can serve to assist in math research. He is currently focusing on the surface dynamics of geodesics on infinite surfaces and how they relate to rational billiards problems. Certain similarities in these two different fields hold answers to broader questions of dynamical systems, such as the impact that transformative properties of flows in one system has on a similar one. Many of the methods used in this project make use of applications such as Sage, MATLAB, and various other languages to assist in proving certain theorems related to his problem. |
