11 CCNY Students Picked as Finalists for Advertising Internships

Eleven City College advertising and public relations students were selected as finalists for the 2014 Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP), run by the American Association of Advertising Agencies (4As). The highly competitive program offers selected undergraduate and graduate students a 10-week paid summer internship at a 4A's member advertising agency.

This year’s finalists from City College are: Tiffany Banks, Ashley Duchemin, Raj Gomes, Jerry Louis, Cheryl Minaya, Rohan Patrick, Frank Ponciano, Marcos Porrata, Sharmin Rashed, Andrea Lee Torres and Christopher Villanueva. Mr. Gomes and Mr. Villanueva are enrolled in the Branding + Integrated Communication masters program. The other students are undergraduates in the advertising/public relations program.

The finalists will learn in mid-March whether they have been accepted for internships. In 2013, ten City College students were MAIP finalists, and eight were placed in internships.

City College had the third-highest number of MAIP finalists this year, behind University of Texas at Austin and University of Central Florida, but led among all schools in the Northeast.

Since its founding in 1973, MAIP has helped jumpstart the careers of more than 2,500 Asian/Asian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, Hispanic/Latino, Black/African American, American Indian, Alaska Native, Multiracial and Multiethnic aspiring advertising professionals.
