The 9th Annual Halloween CCNY Scarefest takes place on Fri., Oct. 30.
The City College of New York’s 9th Annual Halloween CCNY Scarefest will take place on Fri., Oct. 30 from 4-10 p.m. This year’s treats include pumpkin carving and painting, a tunnel tour, laser tag, and movie on the lawn. Scarefest welcomes all ages and is free and open to the public on a first come, first served basis.
There’s also an opportunity for some free Scare-Wear t-shirts to the first guests lined up; there are limited quantities and various sizes, including adult and youth. Some events require an RSVP, and family friendly hour is from 4-5 p.m.
This annual Halloween event is hosted by the Department of Theatre and Speech and the Office of Institutional Advancement, Communications & External Relations in collaboration with the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce. It is supported by the Office of Facilities Management and the Department of Public Safety.
The first Scarefest was in 2018, and it started as a way to bring the CCNY campus and Harlem community together for spooky season, as well as to highlight the work of students, faculty, and staff in the theatre department. It has seen over 1000 attendees, and every year the theatre department curates a walk through the dark tunnels, which runs underneath the City College campus and resembles a haunted passageway.
The entrance is located at West 138th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, and the ADA entrance is at the NAC Building’s main entrance on 138th and Convent Avenue. Rules and policies can be found here, and answers to the most frequently asked questions, can be found here.
