City College of New York Chemistry Professor Mahesh Lakshman
City College of New York Chemistry Professor Mahesh Lakshman is now a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the world’s leading community of scientists in that field. His induction is part of the society’s long legacy of advancing excellence in the chemical sciences.
Since his arrival at CCNY in 2000, Lakshman has continuously received notable accolades, including research grants from National Institutes of Health (NCI, NIGMS, NIAID) and several NSF awards. In addition, he has made significant contributions to research infrastructure development with external funding.
With over $3.5 million in grant awards, Lakshman continues to push boundaries as a published author, peer reviewer for major national and international journals and respected mentor receiving the CCNY Presidential S.T.A.R. award in 2011 and a CCNY Outstanding Mentor award in 2003-2004.
He was Visiting Professor at the well-respected Indian Institute of Technology (Mumbai) in 2013 and in 2014 was a recipient of the prestigious and selective Japan Society for the Promotion of Science travel fellowship that took him to various universities in Japan.
The oldest chemical society in the world, the Royal Society of Chemistry celebrates its 175th anniversary this year.
