Admitted International Student Guide

Step 1

Activate Your MyCity Page: This is your personal City College web portal that will provide your personalized checklist of items needed to complete the post-admission process. Your login information was provided to you in your acceptance e-mail.

Deadline – Immediately

Step 2

Let Us Know You’re Coming: This is called your “Intent to Enroll,” and is the first checklist item on your MyCity page. This checklist item will direct you to CUNYfirst for completion.

Deadline – Immediately. This task is required in order to select an Academic Planning Day (see Step 6).

Step 3

Pay Your Commitment Deposit (if required): This non-refundable deposit of $100 secures your seat and will be applied towards your tuition upon enrollment. If required, the option to pay your deposit on CUNYfirst will become available immediately upon submitting your "Intent to Enroll."

Deadline – May 1st or 2 weeks from the date of your acceptance email, whichever is later. This task is required in order to select an Academic Planning Day (see Step 6).

Step 4

Begin the Financial Verification Process: All students seeking F-1 student visa status, must complete the Application for the Certificate of Eligibility (SEVIS Form I-20), and provide all necessary financial documents. If you are already studying in the United States with an F-1 student visa, then you must also complete the F-1 Student Transfer Recommendation Form. All documents completed in this step must be submitted to our Office of International Student and Scholar Services.

Deadline – Immediately after completing Steps 1 through 3.

Step 5

Submit Your Immunization Records: Before you can register for classes, you must submit the completed Immunization Record Form to our Student Health Services office.

Deadline – Immediately. This task is required in order to select an Academic Planning Day (see Step 6).

Step 6

Complete Required Testing: All incoming freshman students are required to take the College-Level Math (Math 6) Placement Exam. Some incoming transfer students may also be required to take this and other exams (i.e. Reading, Writing, ATB). You can register for any of these exams (if required) through your "Complete Required Testing" checklist item, or through your Testing Invitation E-mail.

Deadline – Immediately. Results are typically available within a few business days. This task is required in order to select and Academic Planning Day (see Step 6).

Step 7

Sign Up for an Academic Planning Day: At Academic Planning you will be welcomed to the City College of New York (CCNY) community and meet with the advising staff. Through this process you will develop your course schedule and learn what it takes to become a successful student at CCNY.

Deadline – Immediately after the dates are released in Mid-May. Your MyCity checklist must be complete in order to select an Academic Planning Day.

Step 8

Review Your Student Account: Once you have registered for classes, you will need to check your CUNYfirst account to view any outstanding balance.

Deadline – Immediately after registering for your classes.

Step 9

Send Us Your Final Transcript: You must submit an updated official transcript if you had any courses in progress during the application/admissions process. All final transcripts must be sent to the following address:
