The Story of CCNY

Since 1847, we are the original - meeting, and exceeding, the need! The City College of New York takes a pause to reflect on our many accomplishments over the years. Today, CCNY is ranked #1 by The Chronicle of Higher Education out of 369 selective public colleges in the United States on the overall mobility index. The campus boasts outstanding programs in architecture, engineering, education and the liberal arts and sciences to prepare our students for the future, and to produce outstanding leaders in every field. Nowhere else in the city do undergraduates have so many opportunities to conduct research with professors and publish and present their findings. This legacy of achievement, drive, determination and confidence is one that stems from a strong history and the creation/foundation of "The Free Academy", the original name of The City College of New York.

The City College of New York kicked off its 175th anniversary by launching a campaign to triple its endowment to $1 billion over the next 10 years. "The Campaign for City College: Doing Remarkable Things Together" was announced by City College President Vincent Boudreau before an audience of more than 200 people gathered in the Great Hall of Shepard Hall for the College’s 16th annual Presidential Awards Gala.

A New Look for CCNY

CCNY new logo - seal 2022
In keeping with the need to visually denote City's unique identity, we sought to develop new guidelines and a new visual identity through logo and branded elements. The goal in this initiative was to highlight the iconic tri-face seal - while bringing it, and CCNY, into a new era.

Schools and Divisions

School and Division banners 2022

We fully understand that the work of The City College of New York is not done in isolation. From our campus leadership to the community, to the Schools and Divisions that produce such an outstanding array of graduates each and every year.  For that reason, we have chosen to pay tribute to all areas across campus that have made City College, the City College of today!  These new and updated campus banners are currently on display across the City College campus!
