Comparative Literature: Courses

COURSES

There are only two required courses for the major:

• CL 28000/ENGL 28000: Introduction to Comparative Literature
• An upper-level seminar on a relevant comparative topic

Seminar courses in ENGL, CMLL and other Departments that have counted as electives in the past include:

• ENGL 49000: Seminars in Language and Literature
• SPAN 45300: Gender Issues in Hispanic Letters
• FREN 40600: Theories and Histories of Literature

You'll also need 6 literature classes in a "First Language"; 3 literature classes in a "Second Language"; and 3 electives that can include courses from all sorts of other disciplines, from Philosophy, to Political Science, to Art History, and many more.
