CCNY celebrates CUNY Month

November is CUNY Month! To celebrate, the City College of New York invites the community to visit the campus and to enjoy a number of special events throughout the month. Some of the highlights are: Undergraduate tours and information sessions; The 135 th Annual Alumni Dinner, honoring award-winning actress and director Phylicia Rashad, and six CCNY alumni, on Nov. 5; The annual Relay for Life, which raises awareness and funds for the fight against cancer, on Nov. 7 and 8; “ Freedom Rides: Barometer of the Civil Rights Movement,” a talk by Distinguished Professor of History Judith Stein

City College is a top producer of physics graduates in the US

The City College of New York is a top producer of physics graduates in the nation, according to the American Institute of Physics. City College’s physics department is on a list of programs recognized by the AIP for conferring the largest number of undergraduate physics degrees between 2012 and 2014. Northern Arizona University, Miami University, University of Massachusetts and University of Texas are some of the institutions that make the list. CCNY honors Phylicia Rashad and six distinguished alumni at annual gala

Award-winning actress and director Phylicia Rashad is this year’s John H. Finley Award recipient. The award is given out by the Alumni Association of The City College of New York for exemplary and dedicated service to the City of New York. Burnout and depression: two entities or one? CCNY provides answer

Burnout and depression overlap considerably, according to the latest study on the subject led by psychology Professor Irvin S. Schonfeld of The City College of New York’s Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership and his colleague, Renzo Bianchi, of the Institute of Work and Organizational Psychology, University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. CCNY research boosts optical fiber data speeds

In the latest advance to boost the speed of the Internet, a research team including, the City College of New York, University of Southern California, University of Glasgow, and Corning Incorporated, demonstrates a way to increase the data speeds of optical fibers – considered the Internet’s backbone. New Physician Assistant Program starts in 2016

The City College of New York Physician Assistant Program, one of the oldest in the country committed to recruiting from and serving underrepresented populations for more than four decades, introduces a new master of science degree program commencing in 2016. City College salutes Dominican WWII vets

To honor the many Dominicans that served in the U.S. military during World War II, the CUNY Dominican Studies Institute hosts a series of discussions, screenings and an exhibit, Nov. 11, 2015 through Mar. 31, 2016, at The City College of New York.
