Associate Provost Valdes opened the meeting at 10:00 am and asked for a motion on the April 17th Cabinet meeting’s minutes; the minutes were approved. Associate Provost Valdes began the meeting by asking President Boudreau to share his announcement.

President Boudreau announced that a protest may take place today across the CUNY campuses and that the protesters would be members of PSC-CUNY as well as students.  He also shared there was a handshake agreement that took place in Albany around the budget and shared that it seems we’re close to having an enacted budget.

President Boudreau also provided information on his recent meeting with the Rector of the United Nations University, where VP Mozeleski, and Deans Couzis and Rich were in attendance.  He mentioned the Rector would like to set up a robust partnership with City College where he would like to bring faculty from UNU to teach here at CCNY, possibly in a joint program; and would like for us to bring some of our programs to UNU to teach UNU staff in their facilities.
President Boudreau also shared that there is a delegation from Taiwan who will be visiting the campus to see if it’s possible to partner with some of our semiconductor and material science resources.  He stated that a meeting recently took place with Micron and that they are establishing the Northeast University’s Network, which is a network to bring university research and student training into the semiconductor industry.

Associate Provost Valdes asked Associate Provost Strzeszewski and Nikisha Williams, Director of IR to begin their presentation on Divisional Retention to the Cabinet.  President Boudreau asked that all members go through the data and to be prepared to discuss at the May 15 Cabinet meeting.

Following the presentation, Associate Provost Valdes asked the deans to report on graduate program growth. President Boudreau explained Provost Liss’ presentation on graduate programs in his absence.  President Boudreau stated further discussion on graduate program growth would be tabled until the May 15th meeting and requested that each Dean speak on the growth of the programs within their divisions.  He asked them to think about these two questions:

  • Where do you think the pain points are?
  • Where do you think growth opportunities exist?

Associate Provost Valdes asked the Deans to share the ways in which their divisions are using Navigate.  Following the Deans report back on Navigate, Associate Provost Valdes asked Dean Couzis and Dean Rich to report on their plans for their schools.  Dean Couzis screen shared his report entitled, “Growth of Grad Programs” and Dean Rich screen shared his report entitled, “Enrollments, the Budget and Stop Outs.”

Due to time constraints, Associate Provost Strzeszewski’s divisional presentation will now take place at the May 15 meeting.

Lastly, Associate Provost Valdes announced that President Boudreau would format the agenda for the May 15 Cabinet meeting and Prof. David Jeruzalmi volunteered to be the Facilitator at that meeting.

Cabinet agenda formulation for May 15:

  • President’s Announcements
  • Divisional Plan Reports (Dean Lamboy and Dean Mercado)
  • Data around retention and retention efforts
  • Review of Graduate Program Growth
  • Orientation Program
  • Does the schedule of events for orientation address issues our students are having?
  • Divisional Presentation (Associate Provost Strzeszewski)

Meeting adjourned at 12:08 pm.
