- No changes required, minutes were adopted
- President’s Announcements
- H-1B Visa Mandate – Currently does not affect existing employees who hold H-1B Visas. However, when conducting future searches, be mindful of international candidates and the steps that must be taken regarding sponsorship.
- During RF searches, sponsorship comes up during the application/interview process
- HR noted that sponsorship conversations usually happen up front, however we must be careful with the specific questions asked to potential candidates
- Research Foundation CUNY – regarding Government Shutdown (handout)
- This will be emailed to the Cabinet immediately following the meeting, please be on the lookout for an email from the President’s Office.
- Main highlights include conserving cash – suspending any new hires on federal projects, suspending all OTPS (only essential/emergency); campuses must guarantee at least one month of payroll (two pay periods), if the shutdown lasts longer, this will be extended; line of credit – RFCUNY may draw down on its line of credit if necessary, note if this occurs, it must be repaid.
- There was a question about grants (funds that are allocated up front) – this change is across the board, same rules apply
- CUNY Beyond
- Workforce Development (6 categories) job exploration for students, career informed curriculum, building relationships with industries, infrastructure, etc. – CCNY was to be part of this first cohort, this will begin in January 2026
- Document will be circulated to Cabinet
- Workforce Development (6 categories) job exploration for students, career informed curriculum, building relationships with industries, infrastructure, etc. – CCNY was to be part of this first cohort, this will begin in January 2026
- CInC – City Innovation Collaborative – 35k sq of commercialization processes of technology innovations and hosting start-ups and other innovations from the City, etc. The project had been cancelled, but there is now momentum to move forward.
- H-1B Visa Mandate – Currently does not affect existing employees who hold H-1B Visas. However, when conducting future searches, be mindful of international candidates and the steps that must be taken regarding sponsorship.
- Intranet Presentation
- COO Gurba gave a quick overview regarding the Intranet process – have been working on this transition for months, started with IT sharing with Cabinet, skeleton framework, got feedback, developed guide/playbook, started loading content, then pilot. The department has begun migrating over in phases. The goal is to move out of the testing phase and into production by October 31st. Once we go live, the objective will be to get more schools/divisions onboarded, followed by administrative areas.
- A presentation was given highlighting various sections, including IT, Finance, Facilities and campus planning, HR, and from the Spitzer School of Architecture. This included an overview of the use of the Intranet framework: visuals, access, navigation, etc.
- President noted to put mechanism in place to keep information up to date at the onset and moving forward
- From the Strategic Plan - Digitization of forms, what type, standard, which is preferred, both fillable and then automated work form
- Presentation on RACI Planning Module
- COO Gurba gave a presentation on RACI Planning, approaching CCNY initiatives, highlighting PMP observations, PMP tools and structure, exploring the RASCI Matrix (responsible, accountable, support, consulted, informed).
- PMP
- First two projects under PMP discussed:
- MA Program Developments – Provost Liss shared a slide that included information on procedure regarding the Master’s program. Looking at 3 components: enrollment, faculty/adjunct cost, staff cost. Identifies if this is a healthy or unhealthy program, not a specific ROI and also shared sample results. To measure graduate outcomes (what have our graduates done with their degrees).
- Navigate – AVP Nwosu-Stewart serves as the Executive Sponsor (ES), taking lead
- Next steps (Lightcast, is precise within a three-year period), will get an invite into LinkedIn navigator to do a walk through). Someone’s degree, place of business/employment (if they are up to date) - IRS data, where LinkedIn is personal
- Another component is curriculum revision, programs that are underenrolled
- Planning session on next steps, name executive counsel, at the next cabinet meeting need to develop questions, spend time to begin to build a timeline then the ES can develop
- Get Institutional Research (IR) to provide student outcomes for all programs? Might be useful, certain things will not be provided by IR like in music, how many students have won a grammy, etc. This is something that the ES can take lead on, then talk with industry partners, looking at salary, etc.
- These questions can come in with the ES in terms of the planning model, but how do we want to proceed?
- Then look at scope, resources needed, Provost wants to take this on, because he began working on it already.
- Next meeting ES outline steps to discuss with the Cabinet
- First two projects under PMP discussed:
- Master Planning
- Was not discussed due to time, will be moved to a future meeting.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:00 p.m.
