The meeting was called to order at 10:00 am by Provost Liss.

 

Director Morena introduced the two fire safety directors, Nicholas Monte and David Peterson. to Cabinet members. They spoke on their roles in ensuring building safety and the duties that volunteer fire marshals perform in order to assist them. There will be a fire safety training session for all volunteer marshals in October. The fire safety directors asked that Cabinet members assist them to recruit fire marshals for each building. Ideally, there should be two marshals for every floor of each building, to assist in both routine and emergency evacuations. The Fire Safety Directors will provide job descriptions for the fire marshal role to assist with recruitment for this position.

Action Items:

  1. Provost Liss will speak with COO Gurba regarding blueprints for the NAC building

  2. Fire Safety directors will share October training dates for fire marshals, as well as job descriptions for the position.

 

CIO Ihrer gave a presentation on cybersecurity improvements to be made on the City College campus. He did this along with two members of the Information Technology team, Leonardo Leon, Deputy CIO and Chief Information Security Officer, and Vern Ballard, Director of Frontline User Support Services. The outlined the steps that the IT team will take in the coming months to ensure the college stays protected against cyber attacks and operational disruptions. They asked that Cabinet members encourage their departments to cooperate with them in ensuring the process runs smoothly.

 

Marie Owumi introduced Hannah Ruffridge and Mike Hall from Lightcast, a company that provides data analysis services across multiple platforms based on demographics such as occupations, skills in demand, and career pathways. Ms. Ruffridge gave a presentation on the economic impact of The City College of New York in the 2021-2022 fiscal year. The presentation included the approximate number of jobs created, the scope of future earnings of students, and the cost to benefit ratio for all involved parties. Cabinet members were encouraged to share the infographics with incoming students, parents and interested parties.

 

The meeting was adjourned at 11:57am. The next meeting will be on September 23, 2024.
