President Boudreau opened the meeting at 2:00 PM and called the meeting to order.

Updates and Announcements:

President Boudreau stated that we now have a newly reorganized Adult & Continuing Education program, under the leadership of Dean Juan Carlos Mercado. He also stated that we need a new Strategic Plan and asked that we think about what we know that can produce the change.  He stated, building our planning process will be important.
President Boudreau also mentioned the Chancellor's memo regarding on-campus occupancy of 70% present applies to the administration and staff, not faculty.  He stated for staff, that 70% is the floor, not the ceiling and if an office has functions where they need more staff, you can ask people to come to campus more frequently than 70%.

President Boudreau informed the Cabinet that as a campus, we should be thinking about the following:

A Series of management approaches that include:

  • A master planning process so that we’re aligning the allocation of space with expansion and growth.
  • A budgetary process where we start thinking about what return on investment means (Investment in academic departments and staff)
  • A planning process that lays out what data we need in order to make data-driven decisions.

President Boudreau announced that as we approach the end of our Strategic Plan, our October 11th meeting will take place at a location away from the campus and will instead be a day-long Cabinet Retreat in order to start the planning process.  He will be bringing in a Facilitator and has asked everyone to clear their schedules for the day in order to attend.  He also asked that everyone start thinking about what we know, what we don’t know and what we need to know to move forward.

President Boudreau then began the conversation on Customer Service/Enrollment. He stated:

  • As leaders of the college we need to start talking about customer service.
  • Know information and share with advisors and staff; everyone should be prepared to respond to students.
  • Management requires accurate data and an ability to hold people accountable for a plan.

Peer introductions by Dean Marta Gutman and Interim Chief Librarian, Lon Mendelsohn were postponed until the next meeting.

Meeting adjourned at 5:00 pm.
