Readmission Application Process

We're happy to have you back

Whether you have been out for just one semester, or multiple years, we're glad that you have chosen us once again to continue your education. Although not every student is guaranteed re-entry, we give every possible consideration to anyone who can demonstrate the ability to remain in good academic standing and complete their degree requirements in a reasonable amount of time. Please select one of the tabs below for further details on how to submit your Readmission Application.

Undergraduate Readmission

What is Readmission?

Readmission is the process of officially returning to continue your education after being out of school for at least one semester. Through the re-entry process, you can only return to your previous academic status. For example, if you were a degree seeking student, then you would be seeking readmission into your previous degree seeking status. If you were a non-degree student, then you would be seeking re-entry into your non-degree status. This process should not be used if you wish to change your status (i.e. non-degree to degree).

Who should submit a Readmission Application?

If you have completed at least one semester at City College, but did not graduate, and have been out of school for at least one semester then you can complete a re-entry application. Please note that withdrawal or "W" grades still count towards the completion of a semester. If you have already earned your Bachelor's degree from City College you should not complete this application. You can either apply to to begin a second degree or take courses as a non-degree student.

Through the readmission process, you can only return to your previous academic status. For example, if you were a degree seeking student, then you would be seeking readmission into your previous degree seeking status. Who should submit a Readmission Application?

If you have completed at least one semester at City College, but did not graduate, and have been out of school for at least one semester, but no more than five years, then you can complete a Readmission application. Please note that wIthdrawal or "W" grades still count towards the completion of a semester. If you left City College upon earning your graduate degree then you are not a readmission student. You can either apply to to begin a second graduate degree or take courses as a graduate non-degree student.

When should I submit the Readmission Application?

Readmission applications should be submitted as soon as possible; however, the deadlines vary by program. Please see our "Programs and Deadlines" page for additional information. Please note that if your grade point average (GPA) was below 3.0 when you last attended, then you may be required to submit an academic appeal as part of the re-entry process. In such a case you should submit your re-entry application well before the deadline to allow ample time for review.

Submitting your Readmission Application

You can submit your readmission application online by clicking the button below. A statement explaining the reason(s) for your absence will be required to be uploaded as part of the submission process.
