Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Black History Month AND Women’s History Month with the CCNY Black Studies Department!

The City College of New York’s Black Studies Department is proud to celebrate Black History Month & Women’s History Month 2026 by inviting students to participate in our Floor Mural Contest. 

As part of this historic centennial celebration, we are excited to announce our 

Floor Mural Contest! 

Students are invited to submit original designs for a chance to have their artwork transformed into part of a permanent floor mural on campus. 

The culmination of our Black History Month Celebration and the celebration of Women’s History Month will be a formal debut of The Black Studies Department’s new Community Space, The Lookout (S278), when we’ll announce the winner of this $500 Cash Prize!

Contest Highlights:

Open to student artists and designers

Winning artist receives a $500 cash prize

Selected design will become part of a permanent floor mural

Submission Deadline: March 3rd 

Winner Announced: March 12th
