Hear from funders and film support organizations - as deadlines for their opportunities are coming up. What are these funders and support groups looking for in your project, your proposal and sample? Would you qualify as an emerging or an early career filmmaker? And if you are a student- you should get to know about these groups as they'll be on your list as soon as you graduate.

Join us online on Wednesday March 13th to hear from Lucy Mukerjee and Antonia Thornton, Director of Firelight Media's Documentary Lab and Artist Programs Coordinator, respectively, and then hear from TA (Truc Anh) Kieu of the Jerome Foundation, with a grant application that is open now. We will also hear from Arian Blanco of the New York State Council on the Arts and Okema T. Moore, a board member of NYWIFT - NY Women in Film and Television on their upcoming opportunities.

Firelight Media is a nonprofit supporting non-fiction media makers of color, based in NY but working with makers across the country. Founded by acclaimed filmmakers Stanley Nelson and Marcia Smith , Firelight has supported a large list of award-winning filmmakers.

The Jerome Foundation supports early career filmmakers in all genres and at any stage - but only in Minnesota and NYC. It centers its grantmaking around intersectional racial equity, committing to eliminating disparities and improving access and outcomes to ensure the longterm viability of artists, culture bearers and arts organizations in Minnesota and New York City, focusing on those whose cultural narratives and practices have been historically and presently are excluded. Jerome has also supported a long list of amazing filmmakers.

The New York State Council on the Arts aims to foster and advance arts, culture and creativity, suppoting arts organizations and individuals through various grant programs.

New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) connects, educates, and advocates for women to accelerate diversity in media. They support women artists through events, workshops, and grant programs.

This will be a one hour online talk, and you will receive a zoom link 2 days beforehand with your RSVP.

The event will start at 6:30 PM ET. Presented by Third World Newsreel and the Documentary Forum at CCNY, with thanks to Firelight Media and the Jerome Foundation, NYSCA and NYWIFT.
