In-Person B.A in Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences

Online B.A in Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences

Required Major Courses (12 credits)

Whether enrolled in In-Person or Online B.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences program, students must successfully complete the three mandatory major courses, totaling 12 credits. This requirement forms the foundation of their academic journey, fostering critical thinking, reading, and writing skills. The curriculum places a strong emphasis on strategies for evaluating information and effective communication across various formats: written, oral, and digital. Individual courses within the program further refine these skills, focusing on specific subject areas within the student's chosen concentration. The three mandatory major courses are:

  • IAS 24200, Introduction to Interdisciplinary Studies
  • IAS 23324, Advanced Composition OR IAS 23304, The Essay
  • SPAN 22504, Intermediate Spanish

Additionally, students take 20 credits in an interdisciplinary concentration area, bringing the total to 32 credits. Notably, at least 20 of the 32 BA credits must be completed in residence in the IAS Department.
