The City College Undergraduate Pre-health  Advising

undefinedHave you dreamed of being a doctor, dentist, veterinarian or other health professional? Well, your dream is now within your grasp. The City College of New York can help you achieve your goals. Our Pre-health program provides both undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students a path to that dream.

ABOUT US
The City College of New York has a long history of academic excellence. For over 150 years this comprehensive institution has educated students who were often new to this country or limited in financial resources. The result: thousands of successful alumni.

Our outstanding Program in Premedical Studies (PPS) is designed to prepare students for careers in medicine (allopathic and osteopathic), dentistry, veterinary medicine, optometry and podiatry.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Undergraduate Pre-Health Advising (UPHA) in the Division of Science is to identify and prepare undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students for entry into the professional programs in the health sciences (medicine, dentistry, osteopathy, optometry, podiatry, and veterinary sciences).  The program advances students' knowledge of careers in the health sciences through academic advisement, tutoring services, workshops, and symposia.  Students are referred to hospitals and other clinical centers to provide volunteer and research opportunities to facilitate their clinical shadowing experience, which carries significant weight in a professional school admissions application. The Pre-Health Advising Office guides students through the application process with information on timeliness, and assistance for a competitive application to professional schools.

A HISTORY OF SUCCESS
Since the establishment of the Program in Premedical Studies in 1981, City College students have been admitted to some of the finest medical and dental schools in the country, including Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, Albert Einstein, and many, many more.

Between 68-73% of all students who apply to professional programs are successful in gaining admission to one or more schools.
