Message from the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs

Ramón De Los Santos, CCNY Assistant VP of Student Affairs

Dear City College Students,

Welcome to Spring 2026 at The City College of New York. Whether you are joining us for the first time or continuing your academic journey, I am honored to welcome you to this transformative community—one grounded in access, academic excellence, and meaningful opportunity.

City College has always been a place where diverse perspectives converge, where students challenge assumptions, and where rigorous inquiry is paired with deep care for one another. In a world that continues to experience economic uncertainty, shifting public policy landscapes, rapid technological change, and ongoing social justice movements, your time here matters—not just for your personal goals, but for the strength of our collective future. As we engage in this work together, the College remains guided by the CUNY Rules and Regulations for the Maintenance of Public Order and our Student Demonstration Policy, which collectively uphold both the rights and responsibilities of every member of our campus community.

As your Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs, my role is to ensure you are supported holistically: academically, personally, and professionally. Student Affairs serves as your partner in navigating campus life, connecting you with resources, and helping you build the confidence and skills needed to thrive in an increasingly complex world.

Supporting Your Success
We recognize that many students contend with financial pressures, housing challenges, employment needs, and family responsibilities while pursuing their degree. If you encounter unexpected financial hardship, the Emergency Grants Program is available to assist and can provide short-term support to sustain your progress. Additionally, academic advising, career development services, and tutoring support are available through their respective offices to help you stay on track toward graduation.

Well-Being and Care
Your health and well-being are foundational to your success. We encourage you to take advantage of the comprehensive wellness resources on campus, including:

Engagement and Skill Building
Beyond the classroom, there are purposeful opportunities to grow, lead, and contribute:

A Call to Engage with Purpose
City College students are known for resilience, creativity, and the belief that education is a force for social good. As you continue this semester, I encourage you to take risks, ask hard questions, and lean into opportunities that stretch your skills and perspectives. Our community values curiosity, critical thinking, and thoughtful engagement—and every student contributes to shaping the collective experience here.

If you face obstacles, encounter new opportunities, or simply want to explore your path forward, Student Affairs and our campus partners are here to support you. You belong here, and your growth is at the heart of everything we do.

Thank you for being part of City College. I look forward to seeing all that you accomplish this spring.

Warm regards,

Ramón De Los Santos, Ed.D.
