CCNY Math Placement Test
The CCNY Math Placement Test is administered to incoming students and is used to determine placement into mathematics or mathematics-related courses. Incoming first -year students who have met the CUNY's math proficiency requirement are required to take the CCNY Math Placement Test.
Please note that SAT, ACT, CLEP, and New York State Regents exam scores cannot be used to exempt a student from the CCNY Math Placement test.
Transfer students are generally not required to take the CCNY Math Placement Test. Your next math course is determined based on your previously completed coursework, as evaluated by the Undergraduate Transfer Evaluation Services in the Office of Admissions.
If you are a transfer student and are unsure of your mathematics placement or have questions about course registration, please contact your academic advisor. Your advisor can review your evaluated transfer credits and help you determine the appropriate mathematics course based on your academic program.
The CCNY Math Placement Test does not affect your admission to The City College of New York. However, it does determine the mathematics course(s) for which you are eligible to register based on your major requirements and any major-specific entry criteria.
Scheduling
Before you can schedule the CCNY Math Placement Test, you must first accept our offer of admission and submit your commitment deposit (if required). Once these steps are completed, please log in to your Admitted Student Portal and navigate to "Required Testing" to schedule your test.

Testing Accommodations
If you need testing accommodations, please ensure accommodations are approved before scheduling for your test. After approval, email your accommodation letter to
testing@ccny.cuny.edu
. We will contact you once it is received to schedule your test.
As a new student to CCNY, The Access/Ability Center will work with you to determine appropriate and reasonable accommodations.

Preparation Resources
Prepare carefully for the CCNY Math Placement Test, as your test results determine your placement in advanced math or math-related courses and/or major entry criteria. The more you know about the topics on the test the better prepared you will be. Familiarize yourself with the topics on the test and allow yourself time to review and practice. Review the resources available, which are designed to help strengthen your skills before your test day.
View your CCNY Math Placement
Your math course placement is available in CUNYfirst within 2-3 business days after completing your test. To view your placement, login to CUNYfirst and go to:
Student Center → Course Planning and Enrollment → Milestones.
You may also check your Admitted Student Portal and navigate to "My Checkist" → "Check my placement results".
