Bossgirls

Program Overview:

If you’ve ever thought about running your own business, inventing something new, or being part of a movement to create change in the world, Bossgirls is for you! You’ll join a community of other bossgirls like yourself to discover entrepreneurship. You’ll focus on a problem, come up with an innovative solution for it, research the market, compare competitors, learn how to price your product & prototype it, and create a brand around your idea. At the end of the program, you’ll pitch your idea to a virtual audience–think Shark Tank without the sharks. All the while, you’ll get to meet female entrepreneurs & get advice from expert mentors from Standard Chartered, our program sponsor.

And just so your parents know… our goal is to introduce entrepreneurship to you as not only a possible career path, but a mindset that advances any course of learning. Our curriculum puts the customer first, introducing you to a human-centered design approach to problem-solving. You’ll learn how to analyze a problem and find a business opportunity within it. Plus, having this on your resume or college application looks great!

When/where does Bossgirls take place?

Currently, Bossgirls is a six-week summer program. In person, it takes place at The City College of New York (160 Convent Ave, New York, NY). The Summer 2020 program took place virtually due to COVID-19.

How can I participate?

Any female high school student in the Greater NYC Area can apply. Students must be able to commute to campus each day if in person.

Are their requirements to participate?

You’ll fill out a short application that asks about yourself & why you’d like to join the program. If selected to participate, you’ll need to confirm your acceptance, so use an email that you check frequently! The application for Summer 2021 will be available in November. Until then, sign up here for updates.

Is there a cost associated with this program?

This is a no-cost program thanks to our sponsors, Standard Chartered. Bossgirls will need to cover costs associated with commuting and bringing lunch/snacks (if in person).
