Admitted Freshman Guide

Step 1 - Log onto your CUNYfirst account

Step 2 - View your City College application details

Scroll down to the Admissions section at the bottom of your Student Services Center homepage and click on “View Details” in the City College row.

Step 3 - Submit your Intent to Enroll

To accept our offer of admission, click on the “I Accept Offer” button.

Step 4 - Satisfy the Commitment Deposit

The Commitment Deposit is waived in the following cases:

  • You are a veteran of the U.S. military, or are on active U.S. military duty.
  • The EFC on your FAFSA Student Aid Report is $3,000 or less.

Step 5 - Submit your immunization records

If your immunization is not already satisfied on CUNYfirst then you must submit a completed Immunization Form along with your immunization records to our Student Health Services office.

Step 6 - Submit Advanced Placement coursework for evaluation

If you took Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) examinations, military training or service, or earned college credit while in high school, then you may be entitled to transfer credit. To receive a transfer credit evaluation you must mail an official AP/IB score report, JST transcript and/or a non-CUNY official college transcript* to:

*If your college coursework was completed at a CUNY school, simply notify Transfer Evaluation Services by e-mail ( ) identifying the CUNY school that you attended.

Step 7 - Complete all required testing

All incoming freshman students are required to take the CCNY Math Placement Test regardless of any math coursework completed in high school. The test is used to determine placement into the appropriate math course, and with the exception of engineering applicants, does not prevent entry into your intended major.

If you are an incoming ESL student, you may also be required to take the City University of New York Assessment Test in Writing. You will be notified by e-mail when the testing dates become available.

Step 8 - Prepare for advisement and registration

You will be notified by e-mail when the advisement appointments become available. However, you must complete all of the previous steps in order to meet with an advisor and enroll in courses.
