At CCNY, Obama's Chief Economist Reports Record US Income Growth

At a briefing held October 17th at the City College of New York, Jason Furman, President Obama’s Chief Economic Adviser, reported that the incomes of average Americans rose by 5.2 percent in 2015. “That is the largest growth in income since the 1960s,” he said.  Dr. Furman went on to outline some of the challenges the next administration will face, including the continuing disparities in wealth and incomes.

Dr. Furman, appointed by President Obama in 2013, spoke to an overflow crowd of students, faculty, and staff in City College’s Shepard Hall. The event was hosted by the Charles B. Rangel Center for Public Service, the Colin Powell School’s Master’s Program in Public Administration, and the Zahn Innovation Center.
