Tareen Haque

Profile

I'm a senior at Macaulay Honors College at City College, pursuing a degree in Environmental Earth Systems Science. As the child of Bangladeshi immigrants, she has directly learned about how devastating climate change is, by learning about flooding and sea level rise affecting various disadvantaged communities. She has actively worked towards this by engaging in roles such as being a global youth ambassador for Voices of Bangla, an NGO dedicated to bringing social change in Bangladesh for those in poverty. This past summer, she also interned with both the Natural Resources Defense Council's (NRDC) Latin America team and Columbia University’s Center for Resilient Cities and Landscapes (CRCL). Tareen is also currently the co-president of Macaulay Green Initiative, a sustainability club in her school, and was previously a Climate Policy Fellow at the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership in CCNY.

Her passions include environmental research, sustainable development, and climate policy, and she plans to pursue a career that allows her to make a positive impact on the world around her through work with organizations focused on creating more sustainable living methods.
